Runner-Lover; that's me!

A few months back Marc and I started running, well I need to start off by explaining how much I enjoy running.  The minute I start, I am in extreme misery.  The entire time I am thinking about how much I hate running and how horrible is it.  My neck hurts, my hands get all nasty and clammy, I have sweat dripping down into my eyes, and my feet get blisters.  Sometimes I even curse the people that made it so popular with the "running shoes", "running shorts", or those people that run becuase "they love it".  How in the world could someone love running?

Now that you understand my love for running, I think you will appreciate the pain I am going through.  I have started a training program so that I can run without wanting to kill someone.  A couple weekends ago Marc and I did a 5K.  It was my first run ever, and I guess I did ok.  I couldn't run the entire time.  I did a walk/run.  With all the compliants I named I am guessing you thought I was running a marathon.  Ha- To think I am barely running over 1 mile is sad!  Clearly, I am very out of shape.  I haven't run for an extended period of time since cheerleading in HS.

Now I am training for another 5K, but this time I am working to run the entire time.  Not sure I can make it though.  This week I am supposed to get up to 2 miles.  This will be pretty hard for me.  (Shut up you "runner", you don't understand how hard it is for a non-runner.  Yes, you hear bitterness in my voice. Haha!) I will keep you posted on my training and how it goes.  My ultimate goal is to do a 10K in December with Marc.  I cannot look that far ahead right now.  I am just taking it one day/mile at a time.  Maybe one day I will be a runner-lover, but until then, please pray for me as I work towards a goal that seems so far out of reach!

  1. I feel the same way. I did a 5k & think I ran for the 1st 2 miles & then had to walk. I had planned on doing another, but just haven't gotten around to it. I will say that a great resource is www.marathonrookie.com. There you will find a training schedule for a 5k, 10k, & so on. That helped me a lot.

  2. I'm running a 5K in one month from yesterday. When I say running, I mean walking most but running some too. I need running shoes, shorts, the shoe tab, a new app maybe, some sweatbands, a new meal plan/diet, etc...so I can be just like dad. Haha bless his heart.
