Prayer Life

During worship on Sunday I really got to thinking about the power of prayer. I am a very strong believer in prayer. Marc and I have been working on building a vibrant spiritual relationship with one another for quite some time now. This has been a work in progress because Marc was brought up to pray alone and that really only God needs to be the one that hears. He used to tell me, “He didn’t want to burden me.” (Don’t worry, I did throw the “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” from Galatians in his face!) I grew in a large family and was constantly surrounded by love and support. Anytime anyone in the family is sick, has a major life changes events going on, or just because we are all together, my sweet Pa would lead us in prayer. I have prayed with almost all my cousins at one time or another, just one-on-one and most of my aunts and uncles as well. I am sure you understand the different worlds that Marc and I came from in this regard. We have been working on this together and it is going great. We both are making changes to be more supported to each other in whatever way they see fit. Back to my point, the last few months I have wanted to blog about newly married life, the ups and downs and all arounds, but I couldn’t get it together. Not sure if it is because we have been together for so long that we already know each other pretty well or if I am just not a good blogger, either way, I am so excited to tell you about some verses I was reading the other day.

When I was younger and I would study Jesus promises to us in Matthew, “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matt. 18:20) I always thought this verse pertained to bible study group, Sunday school, or even worship service. It wasn’t until recently when I came across it again, that I thought this pertains to my marriage. Isn’t it so crazy how you can read one verse at one time in your life and it means something completely different at another? When Marc and I pray for something, there will ALWAYS be 2 people praying. How exciting is this?!? I will always have a partner in crime! “I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by the Father in Heaven.” (Matt. 18:19) Think about how amazing this is! Marriage is so wonderful and the way that God intended it to be is just thrilling. I am so excited about what God has in store for me and Marc, and cannot wait to find out. (Hopefully there will be lots of kids and lots of money!! JK… Well only a little.)

If you aren’t married (like my sisters) this tells you what you have to look forward to. There is a perfect guy out there and God is still preparing both of your hearts for each other. I promise, he has big things in store for both of you, and everyone out there!!! OK, OK, I am done, I just wanted to share with everyone and hopefully it will bring joy to your life as it did mine.

  2. Jade, this is very exciting and uplifting. God promises us many things and we tend to see these more clearly when we are in communication with Him. The more you pray the more peace you'll have in your life. You'll sleep well, and just know Christ is your first line of help, healing, peace, joy, etc. I love this post!
