Allergy Test

I have been putting off an allergy test for quite some time now.  I am miserable from about November-February here in Austin.  My doctor assumed it was from Cedar, but wasn't sure.  I also have been started to sneeze more and more during non typical Cedar times.

I must say, the skin test wasn't AT ALL what I thought it would be.  Back forever ago, when my mom had it done, they individually stuck you with a pretty long needle.  Today, they have this little thing with 10 needles (if you can call them that) on it.  It feels like someone pushed a hair brush into your back.  Not painfull at all.  I was so thankful.

Well, after the sticks then you wait for about 15 minutes.  After what seems like forever (because my back was so itchy), I was able to find out what I am allergic to... Highly allergic to Cedar, dust mits, ragweed, and grass.  I am going to start allergy shots next week.  Here is a picture right after she stuck me.  I wish you could see after the 15 minutes was up, because you would see a huge differencel, but you can see where Cedar on the lef side towards the top.  Moral of the story, if you have been putting off the skin test, don't.  It's almost painless and totally worth it!

  2. So glad and mad I didn't get the "Painless" version. Mine was more like a torture test. Each allergen individually scratched into your back. In fact, they called it a scratch test. Three times, so far, and the last time, London was going to stay with me cause I dreaded it sooo bad, but I didn't make her so she left. Not her bad at all, I convinced her it was ok to go and then was sooooo sad I wasn't truthful. Oh well, glad it worked for you. Obviously, I don't have an issue with it at all.
